Scholarship for Outstanding Managerial Talents
Human resources dictate the competitiveness of every country. Business ventures cannot expect to sustain growth without cultivating the talent needed for the task. In 2005, the E. SUN Volunteer Foundation set up the E. SUN Scholarship for Growing Outstanding Managers that would help students with the potential to make their dream come true. Graduate students with humble origins or from families that have run into misfortune are offered grants over the course of their study so that they can have an opportunity to prove themselves in the field of management after graduation.
By the end of every September, the foundation begins to take in applications from graduate students newly admitted to designated departments or colleges at eight universities for consideration. They are National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, National Chung Hsing University, National Chung Cheng University, National Cheng Kung University and National Sun Yat-sen University. After a stringent process of appraisal, those who are deemed qualified are entitled to a NT$200,000 scholarship every academic year until they earn their master’s degree. By giving them a fair opportunity to enjoy all the learning resources and environment their peers take for granted, E. SUN hopes to help these students from underprivileged backgrounds focus on their studies and move on to make an excellent manager in due time.
| On top of financial aid, E. SUN volunteers are happy to assist the students in other ways; they will keep track of how the students are doing at school and what they have in mind with regard to their career path. In their turn, most students will not hesitate to bring whatever questions they may have about their school or career prospects to their E. SUN friends. Insignificant as it may seem at the outset, it is a friendship that can extend its reach far and wide over time. By doing these little things here and there, E. SUN hopes that it can bring forward any number of lights to illuminate many dark corners of the society. |
