Caring for Children in Need

For E.SUN volunteers, children living in orphanages have long topped their list of priorities. Other E. SUN employees and their families are also encouraged to assist in the care for orphans.

  • Join Orphans for Special Occasions
When a major festival approaches or a given orphanage holds a special gathering of its own, E. EUN volunteers will join the children on the dining table or for a party of some sort. Children are given the opportunity to share in all the festivities while learning to appreciate the true meaning of gratitude.

  • Watch Professional Baseball Games
    E. SUN volunteers will take the orphans to a professional baseball game now and then, allowing them to share in the excitement and give cheers to players.

  • Three-on-Three Basketball Games
To help the orphans develop physical fitness while engaging in their studies, E. SUN volunteers team up with a number of orphanages in Taipei County and the city and county of Kaohsiung to organize three-on-three basketball games. While sweating to win the top honor, the children are also given an opportunity to learn the significance of teamwork in the process. Caring for Children in Need

  • Learn to Make Cakes
    E. SUN volunteers once took some orphans to the White Wood House Museum and the Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry where they were taught how to make cakes and gingerbread houses for Christmas. It’s both fun and inspirational.

  • Enjoy a Concert
    E. SUN volunteers joined some orphans for a visit to the World Games Main Stadium, where they enjoyed the place’s inauguration concert organized by the Kaohsiung City Government.

  • Experience How the Disabled Feel
    E. SUN volunteers took some orphans to Victory Home in Pingtung where they had a chance to see for themselves how tough life is for the disabled. Such first-hand experiences are intended to help the children take a new perspective on their own lives and treasure what they have and others don’t.

  • Show Care for Taiwan by Cleaning Up Its Coast
    E. SUN volunteers joined some orphans to clean up a Wanli beach in Taipei County, helping them appreciate the importance of preserving natural resources and the environment and foster a closer bond among themselves. They were also taken to the Ocean World at Yeliu in the hope that they could develop an affinity with the ocean. Caring for Children in Need

  • Have a Try on Clay Kiln-Cooking
Deprived of a family for one reason or another, most orphans are denied a big variety of play stuff other children of their age take for granted. Accordingly, E. SUN employees took orphans at support centers operated by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) to a tourism plaza of Taiwan Sugar Corp. for a clay kiln-cooking session, a memory shared by many local people in their 40s or older.

  • Charity Bazaar
    E. SUN volunteers took part in the charity bazaar at the Millennium Park in Pingtung by donating personal collections and setting up a booth that sells second-hand stuff and specially prepared cloth. All proceeds went to the organizers for use in public services.

  • Community Services During Chinese Lunar New Year and Major Festivals
When either Chinese Lunar New Year or Christmas is around the corner, E. SUN volunteers will go to orphanages and help the children clean up the place. The children are then taken to nursing homes or schools meant for those with physical or mental disabilities. In addition to helping with clean-up and keeping the elderly company, the children will also help bathe patients in a coma and severely impaired children, wheel them outdoors for a bit of sunshine, and tell stories. Even orphans need to learn about give as well as take.
